chocolate runny lava cakes

Ohhh baby!!! We wish there were a SmellButton because seriously how good does our kitchen smell?!!!

We’re in chocolate heaven over here, we just baked the most delicious soft mini chocolate cakes that are still runny inside. We repeat: Still. Runny. Inside.

Also known as Moelleux au Chocolat or Lava Cake. And the best part, they are so incredibly easy to make. Like almost embarassing easy. Recipes like this of Sue and Sibylle of Comme Soie are the reason why we love food.

If you have guests over, this is the perfect dessert because you can prepare the dough ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Once it’s time for dessert, just pop these badboys in the oven. Easy as 1,2,3!

Your guests will looove and your home will smell like your sweetest daydream! Win win!

Happy baking!!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR 6 MINI CAKES

– 120g dark chocolate

– 60g butter

– 3 eggs

– 90g sugar

– 40g flour

1 – Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

2 – In a small sauce pan, melt the chocolate and the butter over medium heat. Take the pan off the stove and let it cool.

3 – In a mixer combine eggs and suger and beat well, until a thick dough starts to build.

4 – Add the egg and sugar mixture to the melted chocolate and mix well.

5 – Finally add in the flour and then pour the batter into lightly greased baking dishes (we used small 6 cm baking dishes. A cupcake tray would also work just fine!) and bake for about 6 to 8 minutes. This really depends on your oven. You want the outside to be nice and firm but the inside to be runny.
