Rustic elegance and natural wedding charm in lavender tones
Event designer Kristina Embree of Harlow Events conjured up a liaison of delicate lilac tones, rustic charm and natural ambiance with this editorial. We are impressed by the symbiosis of elegance and playfulness, the art of uniting clean lines and soft curves, and the talent of artfully blending detail-loving components under the aspect of naturalness.
“For centuries, lavender has been lauded for its healing properties. It was used as an insect repellent by the Romans, a perfume by theGreeks, and in healing concoctions by monks in the Middle Ages. But being the color of royalty, lavender’s purple hue denotes refinement andluxury. The flowers from a lavender plant are symbolic as well–gathered in a bouquet, they represent devotion or luck.” (From Town & Country)
From Kara Moon of Enjoue Studio: “The design inspiration for the wedding at The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch was inspired by the purple mountain majesty of our beautiful Rocky Mountains. The lavender hues in the color palette along with the soft touches of blush, blues and white are reminiscent of the luminous evening sky in the Vail valley. We styled each scene of the wedding day to tie in the rusticelegance of the log timber architecture to pair with the soft and feminie tones of the decor elements.
The ceremony scene took place on the skier’s bridge. During the summer months, this site is covered in natural green grass and boasts of views of the surrounding peaks. Majestic pine and aspen trees framed the couple with soft romanticblooms on pedestals for the front of the altar.
For the reception space, we choose the Anderson Cabin for the romantic intimate dinner. The table was set with layers of subtle textural linens to complement the vintage French limoges tableware. Combined with the delicate china patternswe added modern matte gold flatware and clean lined oval back chairs with an acrylic back. Vintage mix and matchcrystal was also used for a creative touch as each place setting for the guests was unique.
On the main reception table, the floral centerpiece from Erin Ashley Design was asymmetrically arranged to create the mood of wild beauty. Eachbloom was added for texture and it’s subtle hue to include garden roses, irises, spray roses, clematis, and peonies. Our beautiful paperie suite of Korynne & Company whispers of the lavender theme and also tied together the romantic style with it’s elegant calligraphyand timeless design.
For a fun twist, the couple selected a playful dessert station complete with ice cream, cones, libations and wedding cake from Ruby Jean Patisserie. The display offered guests the option of selecting their own favorite treats. To complete the lavender theme, the wedding cake was covered in pressed dried pansies, a symbol of “loving feelings” and traditionally given to some you hold dear to yourheart.
The final scene is the show stopper! Our beautiful couple is shown in their getaway car, a gorgeous vintage 1958 Jaguar XK150. Painted a classic Cotswold blue and restored to its original beauty, a garland of lush blooms was added to the back sideof the seats to tie in the overall floral design. Our stylish couple looked stunning in this sexy car. It was truly the perfect touchto end a perfect day.”
