Wedding under the Bali sun

Wai Kwan and Evan, an adorable couple from South Yarra, Australia, began their journey to marriage with an unforgettable chapter: a wedding in Bali that was as colorful and vibrant as their love.

Her story began in a salsa dance club in Hong Kong in March 2018. Evan, not exactly a salsa dancer, was accompanied by a group of friends, while Wai Kwan was there to dance with her Latin American friends. In November 2018, Evan finally moved from Hong Kong to Melbourne to be with Wai Kwan. Since then, they have traveled to a variety of countries together and had adventures that filled their relationship with joy and laughter.

In April 2022, during a vacation in Indonesia, their love story came to a climax. In the crystal-clear waters of the reef in front of The Oberoi Beach Resort Lombok on the island of Lombok, Evan proposed to Wai Kwan in a surprise proposal that filled their hearts with happiness.

The wedding also took place at this special resort on Lombok, an island close to Bali, which is less touristy and offers a peaceful atmosphere. The ceremony was held on the beach at sunset under a majestic tree, which immersed the couple and their guests in a fairytale setting.

It was very important to Wai Kwan that her wedding dress reflected her personality. With a mixture of elegance and exoticism, she designed an airy gown that was perfectly adapted to the Indonesian climate. A Chinese-inspired choker and a large, open back with pearl jewelry completed the look.

The bridesmaids appeared in flowing, tight-fitting peach-pink dresses that harmonized perfectly with the ambience. The groomsmen wore classic gray and blue suits with a touch of color in the boutonniere.

The colors of the wedding reflected the beauty of nature: green vegetation, golden sand and the radiant sunset. By using local flowers in orange, red and pink, the decoration shone in a harmonious play of colors, which was beautifully captured by photographer Sylvain Bouzat.

The wedding reception was a mixture of elegance and cheerful, fun celebration. The stylish wedding cake was white, decorated with colorful local flowers.

The memories of the wedding in Bali will always be unforgettable for Wai Kwan and Evan. From the wedding reception with a sparkling atmosphere on the dance floor to the moments in the resort pool the next day. Surrounded by friends and family, their love was celebrated in a relaxed and joyful way amidst the Balinese beauty.
