CYGNUS - ELECTRIC SWAN ENSEMBLE

12 luminous, lifelike swans come together for a meditative water ballet. They glide proudly over the surface of the water, form symmetrical figures, turn graceful pirouettes and dance the mysterious night dance of the swans together – to music that sounds from their bodies.

The swan has fascinated people since time immemorial and the fairytale white bird is firmly anchored in the mythology of many cultures. As a symbol of light, love and new beginnings, it appears in countless fairy tales and stories, from Greek legends to Hans Christian Andersen. And since Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at the latest, the white bird has been the larger-than-life symbol of Romanticism.

How does it work?

The swans are sophisticated artificial creatures. The LEDs inside give them their magical luminosity. They are controlled by electric motors as if by magic and navigate with the help of a high-precision RTK-GPS system. An ingenious mechanism allows them to turn their heads and speakers hidden in their bodies unfold a three-dimensional poetic sound field.

The swans’ choreography is individually adapted to each body of water and pre-programmed. Every lake or river, every water basin or pool is a possible playground. The batteries allow uninterrupted performance of up to 5-6 hours before they need to be recharged.

CYGNUS – Electric Swan Ensemble is on the road as an art installation at light and outdoor art festivals around the world, enchanting young and old alike.
