International wedding at Albrechtsberg Castle

A wedding in Dresden

Amy and Fritz-Julius tied the knot in the heart of Dresden, a city full of history and impressive architecture. Their love story began in New York City, where they met in 2016. But it wasn’t until the 2020 pandemic, when they communicated digitally across continents for six months, that their relationship developed into something deeper. This connection ultimately led to a fairytale wedding day in the Saxon metropolis on the Elbe, which the two planned with Aniko Weddings.

The ceremony: history and emotions in the Frauenkirche

The Frauenkirche, a baroque masterpiece and symbol of peace and reconciliation, provided the perfect setting for their church wedding. Fritz, who had often visited Dresden since childhood, had shown Amy this special place in the summer of 2023, and they both agreed that this should be the place for their union for life.

With Wagner’s famous wedding march, the bride entered the majestic room in a breathtaking wedding dress by Pronovias. The dress, richly decorated with floral appliqués, reflected the elegance and grace of the day. While the organ and a string quartet performed musical classics such as Bach’s Air on the G String, the guests were deeply moved by the spiritual atmosphere and historic backdrop.

Albrechtsberg Palace: A celebration from another time

After the emotional ceremony in the Frauenkirche, they continued on to the magnificent Albrechtsberg Castle, which sits enthroned on a hill above the Elbe. With its neoclassical architecture, the castle provided the perfect setting for a wedding that exuded timeless elegance. A perfect backdrop to immortalize the wedding day with Vivid Symphony in incredibly beautiful wedding photos.

The floral arrangements in white, ivory and delicate shades of pink lent the historic halls a romantic touch. The impressive floral arch installation by Florale Manufaktur particularly impressed the guests and made for countless souvenir photos. A multi-course dinner was served in the magnificent ballroom, where guests enjoyed the exquisite cuisine and atmosphere in equal measure.

Tradition and surprises: A festival full of highlights

Amy and Fritz made sure that their wedding also honored cultural traditions. For example, they performed the tree trunk sawing, a classic part of some German weddings that symbolizes teamwork and cohesion.

A highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the surprise in the form of fireworks that lit up the night sky over Dresden. The bride and groom then opened the dance floor with their first dance before the celebration turned into an exuberant dance party. Their transatlantic love story came full circle with Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York as the final song.

A day for eternity

Amy and Fritz not only celebrated their love with their wedding, but also wove a piece of history and culture into their story. The combination of personal meaning and historical charm made this day an experience that the guests and the bride and groom will never forget. Dresden, with all its splendor, was not only the backdrop, but also a silent witness to this extraordinary love.
