May wedding on Paros in Greece

Lauren and Alex chose a truly unique setting for their destination wedding: the enchanting island of Paros in the Cyclades, in the middle of the Aegean Sea. This special decision reflects their desire to spend not just a single day, but several unforgettable days with their loved ones. The elegant yet natural boutique hotel Seesoo Paros right by the sea provided the perfect setting for the big celebration, which they planned from afar with their wedding planner Alice from Call Me Madame.

The couple’s story began in an equally meaningful place, the first lecture on her first day of law school in New York. While Alex was convinced of the special connection between them from the start, Lauren initially tried to keep him in the friend drawer. But after a year and an exuberant party at the end of the semester, she finally gave in to their shared happiness. The two have been inseparable ever since.

On her big day, Lauren placed particular emphasis on a unique wedding dress. The masterpiece from La Première Bridal was found in the designer loft in New York and carefully customized to her specifications. A highlight was the detachable cap sleeves, which were made especially for her. Alex, on the other hand, chose an elegant, bespoke suit from Alan David in Manhattan, including a custom embroidered inside shirt pocket.

The festivities began the evening before in Naoussa, a charming harbor town on Paros. There, the guests enjoyed the sunset over the whitewashed houses and got in the mood for the upcoming party with Greek snacks and cool drinks.

On the wedding day, the bride and groom welcomed their guests with fresh lemonade and pink popsicles. The ceremony took place right on the beach, with a wooden chuppah adorned with fuchsia and light pink hydrangeas and roses from The Flower Workshop. The bride’s grandfather’s tallith hung above, a meaningful symbol to honor ancestors. After the traditional breaking of the glass, Lauren and Alex retired for their photo session with photographer Elias Kordelakos while guests enjoyed signature cocktails poolside.

A special highlight of the reception was the couple’s arrival for cocktail hour, accompanied by a French roaming band who set the mood with a rousing version of “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme” by Abba. For dinner, guests were greeted with a surprise under their plates: handwritten love letters from the couple to each guest, containing personal gratitude and humorous memories.

Dinner was served Greek family style, a sign of sharing and community. Meanwhile, the groom’s father toasted the guests with a sake toast. Everyone filled their neighbor’s glass to honor this special tradition.

The party began with the return of the live band, which got the guests dancing on the tables. An exuberant hora made for happy faces as the bride and groom were lifted up on chairs and symbolized their new bond with a white cloth.

Finally, Lauren and Alex cut their wedding cake, created by Poulette Pastry. Shortly after, they opened the dance floor before changing into traditional Moroccan dresses. A touching gesture from the women in Lauren’s family was the application of a small henna motif to the couple’s hands.

The last day of this unique wedding ended with a relaxed brunch on the beach, a perfect end to a celebration full of love, tradition and warm encounters. The memories of these days on Paros will linger with all those present for a long time to come.
