Portugal, a European festivity

While outside the fog begins to lift, the palms stand fearlessly in the wind and the stone walls proudly stretch toward the sky, a new day filled with sunshine begins, already awaiting us on the horizon.

Romanesque and Gothic influences, wide arches and heavy, grey steps. Portugal is a mirror of Europe’s architectural high point. We look down a long corridor and nobody knows where our gaze will end. We follow our instincts. At the very end, we catch a glimpse of a door that could lead anywhere. Is it the bride’s room or a grand ceremonial hall? What could await us behind this door?

Surrounded by palms and dark green leaves, cactus-like wreaths and pervasive fields: everything is covered in shrubs. Here and there, light pastel-coloured blossoms flare up. In the bridal bouquet we discover the colonial red, deep as port wine, and the passionately pleading violet is also reflected here. These splashes of colour seem like a greeting of nature. Fog always appears when the landscape can no longer remain silent in the face of its beauty.

And here she comes. All in white, with dark brown hair. Held together with only an invisible pin. A single strand caresses her face, her lipstick makes use of the colours of the flowers. We follow her through the arch. Could she be leading us into the bride’s room after all? At the front: a black piano that seems to attract her almost magically. When her hands touch the piano, a familiar melody resounds. Effortlessly and light as feathers, her fingers glide across the black and white keys of the grand piano.

While outside the fog begins to lift, the palms stand fearlessly in the wind and the stone walls proudly stretch toward the sky, a new day filled with sunshine begins, already awaiting us on the horizon.
