The Forest Primeval

“This is the forest primeval. The murmuring pines and the hemlocks,
Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight,
Stand like Druids of old, with voices sad and prophetic,
Stand like harpers hoar, with beards that rest on their bosoms.
Loud from its rocky caverns, the deep-voiced neighboring ocean
Speaks, and in accents disconsolate answers the wail of the forest.”

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Evangeline, 1847

Hidden in a dense forest lies a fabled house and garden, where photographer Anya Kernes and event stylist Elizabeth  of East Made Event Company breathed life into their wedding inspirations called “The Forest Primeval.”

Framed in the autumnal ambience and the mysterious mood of the forest the two artists and their team transformed that charming River Oaks Charleston into the love nest of a young bridal couple.

„Inspired by the draping, ghostly quality of Spanish moss, our main shoot draws upon a rich, deep, autumn color palette to enhance the richness of the forest and outdoors of River Oaks.“ stylist Elizabeth of East Made Event Company told us excitedly.

A sprawling bridal bouquet from La Fleur du Jour, for example, became a beautiful bride’s autumn accessory that continued barely noticeable in the floral pattern of her gossamer wedding dress.

„The delicate details on the gorgeous Alexandra Grecco dress, while paired with the wild blooms, perfectly complemented the surroundings to add even more dreaminess and magic to the shoot.“ photographer Anya raves about the collaboration with all the wonderful vendors involved.

Each of them helped turning a vision into a true work of art in which cake, stationery, flowers and selected details harmoniously blended in.

Now let Anya Kernes and her overwhelming images convince you of how easy and yet powerful autumn can be…
