Unforgettable couple shoot in the Antarctic

Anastasiia and Sergey, a pair of globetrotters who met on a hike and began traveling together to the most remote and fascinating places on earth, were the perfect couple for this adventure. Their journey took them to Antarctica for this photo shoot – not only as part of their adventure, but also for a shoot in the most extraordinary place on earth.

The Antarctic Peninsula, surrounded by majestic mountains, huge icebergs and a snowy backdrop, was so impressive that it took your breath away. The wedding shoot began with an expedition on the yacht “Mon Coeur”, which moved gently across the icy sea. The water was at an unimaginable temperature of -1.5°C and the couple were mesmerized by the harsh but incredible beauty of Antarctica.

In the beginning, everything was planned down to the smallest detail. Photographer Alyona Boiko had a precise image in mind: a couple strolling along a black, steaming beach on the volcanic island of Deception, a hint of steam dissipating in the cold air and drifting up to the snow-covered hills. But the Antarctic weather had other plans. The icy wind swept across the beach with such force that the vapor immediately blew away and collapsed into a barely perceptible layer. The wind was so cold that even the thickest clothing offered little protection.

But the shoot continued, and the couple soon discovered the breathtaking backdrop: huge icebergs protruding from the water in bizarre shapes, through the millions of years old ice masses that shimmered in various shades of blue and white. The waves kept moving the yacht and the photographer had to be careful with every step she took to avoid falling into the icy water. Working with the drone in particular became a challenge, as the wind made movement even more difficult and there was a risk that the drone would fall into the salt water.

Once the yacht had reached the coastline, the scenario didn’t change much. The icy, salty wind devastated even the most carefully styled hairstyle. But the couple were not discouraged. With the necessary wellies and the sensitivity to move around in places suitable for photography, the magic of the moment was unbroken. The wind, the icy cold and the difficult terrain were challenges to the uniqueness of the experience.

The wedding dress Anastasiia wore was an Asos creation with lace detailing, but with warm pants and wellies hidden underneath – very practical given the extreme cold. The icy wind did not affect the lightness of the dress, which proved to be perfect in the Antarctic despite the extreme conditions.

Despite the challenges, the moment was a dream come true for Anastasiia and Sergey, surrounded by the icebergs and untouched nature. Amidst the icy silence and the imposing backdrop, it was a wedding photo shoot that will remain something very special not only in pictures, but also in the memories of the two of them and the photographer forever.
