Elegant wedding idyll at Château Martinay

Château Martinay is picturesquely located near Avignon and Orange and the vineyards of the Southern Rhône Valley. It offers space for relaxation and intimate events with its elegant ambience and magnificent park.

After its renovation, it has acquired a new identity, offering a sophisticated atmosphere that combines authenticity and modernity in an intimate and familiar spirit.

: “Magnificent mature trees, standing like soldiers, flank the path leading to a private gate. When the gate opens, the grandeur of Château Martinay is revealed. Leaving the normal world behind and being transported into a fairy tale is the only fitting way to describe the setup that reveals this beauty – so it’s no wonder that this particular château has the right to host the wedding of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas. With the recent renovation of Château Martinay, I was thrilled to collaborate with the incomparable photographer Oliver Fly and renowned videographer MG Image to celebrate the new look of Château Martinay with a joyous soirée.

Upon arrival, guests received a welcome basket with a bottle of rosé, a candle from Diptyque, a custom matchbox, a jar of honey, from Kat Makes Cookies designed cookies and small donuts in one of Silent Word Studio designed paper bag that featured the same flowers that were on the cookies and would be in the details throughout the day. A sugary sweet start to the festivities!

While planning dinner, we came across the most beautiful plates with an interesting shape that inspired so many meaningful moments throughout the day. From the bride’s half-round engagement ring to the customized cookies to the note in the welcome basket and menus, we’ve picked up the interesting shape again and again.

The bride, Adilyn, looked like a vision. The updo styled by Alejandra Nerizagal broke with tradition and provided flirty waves framing the face, leaving the gorgeous diamond earrings as the bride’s only accessory to take center stage. Ylva Langenskiold ‘s makeup took inspiration from the peach and pink tones of the bridal bouquet to create a playful kiss of color on the bride’s lips and cheeks, and completed the look with bold smokey eyes. The Top Bridal Paris dress had a deep v-neckline in the front and back and dainty chiffon straps that tied at the shoulder. Her dotted ivory pumps by Bella Belle, which also echoed the shape of the day, featured a whimsical tulle bow at the back that mirrored the cascading bows on her shoulders.

Adilyn’s bouquet, designed by Floresie, was bursting with shapes, textures and sorbet colors – consisting of De Tuinen van Appeltern, Foxtail and Martagon lilies, David Austin and Cappuccino roses and Wizard of Oz dahlias. The charming ice cream colored flowers in her bouquet reflected the bride’s playful innocence, and the entire arrangement was held together with an antique blue ribbon.

The groom, Thomas, wore a black suit with slim-fitting trousers and a black bow tie, along with an elegant white shirt from Rives Paris. Florésie created a playful boutonniere that used the frayed edges of her ribbon to tie in the ribbon of the bouquet and invitations with deckle edges.

The château itself provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony – its beauty complemented by floral arrangements in traditional French Anduze vases that resembled the exterior of the château itself!

Cozy cocktails by Velvet Rendez Vous were served on the terraces and balconies. The golden round side glittered on the blue velvet sofa. Completing the décor were stunning white armchairs and cherry red stools that invited guests to engage in cozy conversation while admiring the grandeur of the grounds.

The reception furniture provided by Be Lounge served as a canvas for incorporating styling aspects that were previously woven into the day. The floral centerpieces, as whimsical as the bridal bouquet, stood proudly in French Anduze vases, and a fresh, fun alternative table runner was created with blueberries, yellow tomatoes, fresh almonds and dried pineapples gathered that morning at the local market. The table was set with natural linen from Joli Bazaar and ornate gold place settings and flatware. The palace backdrop made way for the star of the show – the handmade plates that served as inspiration for so much of the day.

The linen napkins from Madame de la Maison and the water goblets made of blue glass set accents in antique blue. Gold decorated champagne flutes with pink ribbon added a playful elegance to the table.

The menu consisted of luminous sweets from Frederic Bernard Traiteur, unrivaled in their beauty and beautifully paired with lavender-scented champagne – a classic nod to Provence. The decadent tapas-style menu included scallops, salmon and shrimp, an egg parfait, veal, sea bass and a selection of local, seasonal vegetables.

Made In Cake finished off the decadent evening with a cake featuring handmade wafer paper flowers and playful tiers of varying heights and widths. All these delicacies were served on handmade ceramic plates by Carron Paris.

The couple drove away in a black 1960 MGA roadster with the top down, courtesy of Provence Classics – an elegant, lighthearted end to a joyous day filled with hope and promise of a sunny tomorrow.”
