Elopement – under the linden tree

This is the love story of Alatea and Timoteo in a traditional village in Central Greece, on Mount Pelion, the mountain of the Centaurs in Greek mythology. Photographed by Lisa Vigliotta and supported by the Wedding Planners of Majestic Events, this shoot takes us to the mystical enchanted evening hours.

The romance began as the couple got ready at a traditional 17th century historic mansion, Tilia Resort on the Aegean Sea. As night fell, they exchanged vows under the candlelit canopy of a majestic 300-year-old linden tree. The fragrant, heart-shaped leaves of the linden tree were the perfect place. The old legend says that you can’t lie under its branches. Wildwood‘s talented florists had created a cascade of flowers and greenery that looked as if they had grown on this ancient tree, before which the lovely couple said their vows.

The bride looked like she came from the 17th century, her ivory wedding dress reflected the tradition of the place with its beautiful lace, ruffles and small pearls, while her makeup looked so natural and fresh, as if the sun had bathed her with its rays. Her hair was pinned into a low chignon and adorned with a bronze headdress and a long veil. Her look was completed by champagne colored satin high heels. The groom was dressed smartly in light gray, with a light vest and a floral boutonnière, but didn’t wear a bow tie or anything similar.

Their candle-lit dinner was set at a romantic wooden table without a tablecloth, with traditional and local tableware such as the small crystal glasses and embroidered napkins, decorated by a beautiful lush floral arrangement of hydrangeas, roses, lysianthus and ferns along with local fruits such as pomegranates and plums. Candles completed the picturesque scene under the linden tree.

The couple enjoyed the evening hours and let the night end in togetherness in front of the fireplace.  Creative Director & Photographer: Lisa Vigliotta Photography
