Lost in Tuscany

Summer. The sun is high in the sky in Tuscany, warming the earth and the ground from the very first light of day. High up on the hill, we are closest to the sun but the villa is still nice and cool. Like a vault, the thick walls safeguard the treasure of the house: Benedetta, the daughter, is preparing for a big moment.

Lost in thought, she gazes out of the window, her eyes roaming into the distance over pine trees, cacti and oleander. A satin breath of virtually nothing gives her soul the feeling of flying. Only the exquisite engagement ring, a unique family heirloom, is the anchor that ties her heart to this place.

Past fig and fruit trees, along rosemary and lavender bushes and through olive groves, we follow the bride to a grand estate which leaves no doubts as to her aristocratic ancestry. An impressive driveway lined with cypresses and a round fountain form a welcome committee befitting her rank.

For many centuries, glamorous summer parties have been held here. Benedetta’s wedding will continue this tradition today. In a sheer delicate dress, she will step before the altar, airy and light like the wildflowers on her arm. One last time, she swaps her bouquet for the canvass and charcoal. She gives shape to her wishes and longing on paper. Then she is ready to place her future into the hands of destiny.

After the vows are exchanged, the banquet is served on the old stone table. Here, the scent of fresh bread and sweet figs emanates into all directions to carry the news of Benedetta’s marriage out into the world…
