Sicilian wedding flair
Built in the 19th century, Villa Carcara is located in the heart of the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers a breathtaking backdrop for weddings in Sicily. The villa tells the story of an ancient Sicily with baroque style, stone walls, gardens, centuries-old olive trees and a timeless atmosphere.
The surrounding nature of the villa, with its typical Sicilian stone walls, offers not only a peaceful retreat, but also a perfect setting for walks and relaxation by the hidden pool. A vegetable garden, fruit trees, herbs, lemons and pomegranates add subtle accents and invite you to enjoy summer dinners under the stars.
The wedding dress in this wedding inspiration, designed by Ukrainian brand Sumarokova, which is currently partly based in Portugal, reflected the baroque palaces and magnificent gardens of Queluz in Lisbon. Made of light green tulle, cupro silk and Austrian crystals, it was a bold departure from traditional white and blended perfectly with the colors and atmosphere of Villa Carcara.
Special details and decorations made the wedding shoot a unique experience. Plants from the villa’s surroundings were used to decorate the bride and groom’s table. One highlight was the traditional Testa di Moro, ceramic heads bought in local stores that symbolize the legends of Sicily. These pots, in which aromatic herbs grow, have adorned Sicilian balconies for centuries and are inspired by a tragic love story from the time of Moorish rule in Palermo. The colorful pots were cheerfully combined with cacti, colorful ceramics and local fruits and flowers and photographed by Clara Hublet with attention to detail.
The entire wedding design in blue, yellow and colorful accents was designed to highlight the natural charm of Sicily – from its stones to its plants to its legends. The choice of a green dress instead of the traditional white one symbolized the freedom and character that went so well with the colors and atmosphere of the villa.
A wedding in Sicily offered an authentic, exotic, original and natural backdrop. Perfect for those who prefer a villa with character but without ostentation and want to enjoy the seclusion of the countryside.
