Stunning wedding venue by the sea
This incredible mountain wedding by the sea Brittany and Michael celebrated on the island of Skopelos in Greece, the setting for the film version of Mamma Mia! The two are from Toronto and love traveling, nature and hiking, even the marriage proposal took place in the mountains, so with this stunning location they discovered their perfect place for the wedding ceremony. Together with Kalli from Majestic Events in Greece and Hilary from Wildwood Floral & Events in Toronto, the couple planned their special day. Since the wedding took place abroad, it was important to the couple that they incorporate some elements that reflected their Canadian roots. They worked almost exclusively with a Canadian service provider team that traveled with them to Greece.
The wedding dress was designed by Greek Canadian Rita Vinieris and was from the Rivini collection. The simplicity and elegance of the silhouette were set off by the open back and exaggerated train with the perfect amount of drama. For “something old,” the bride chose Michael’s late grandmother’s eternity ring, designed by his grandfather. The “something new” were the pretty earrings Michael gave his bride. And “something blue” were the initials and wedding date embroidered in the hem of the wedding dress.
The groom’s tuxedo was custom made by Garrison Bespoke in Toronto and his shoes were from To Boot New York. Guests were asked to wear all black and black tie.
With 20 guests, the couple traveled to the island with spectacular mountains. The wedding vows were to be celebrated at the foot of the church of Agios Ioannis in the region of Kastri. Under a bright blue sky, surrounded by the sound of the waves and accompanied by a solo violinist, the two gave their wedding vows. The marriage arch was decorated with white flowers without obscuring the magnificent view of the sea. After the ceremony, the couple climbed the 110 steps to the top with their guests, a hike in high heels. Photographer Lisa Vigliotta documented the day, the couple and the company amidst the beauty of nature with spectacular light and a trained eye.
Dinner was held outdoors at Evlalia Villas next to the pool, under a canopy of twinkling lights and the stars in Skopelos Town. They wanted the natural landscape to take center stage, so they kept the decorations minimalist and elegant. White flowers and many candles covered the white and cream decorated table under a romantic sky of fairy lights. The original wedding cake by Glyko Styllas was to reflect the natural and rocky island. After a day full of joyful excitement and adventure, the company celebrated the couple in the evening with dancing and in high spirits.
