Elegant island wedding in North Carolina

On a sunny November day, Anne Massie and Andrew tied the knot on beautiful Figure Eight Island in North Carolina. Their love story began in Charlotte, NC, when Anne Massie unexpectedly met Andrew on a business visit. After two years of long-distance dating, Anne Massie finally moved to Charlotte, where their relationship continued to blossom.

The rehearsal dinner

The rehearsal dinner was already celebrated with lovely details in maritime blue tones. Photographer Jim Trice was already booked and was able to capture everything in the best weather.

The wedding dress

Anne Massie impressed on her wedding day with several elegant outfits by Monique Lhuillier. She started the day in a long-sleeved dress with an additional train and long lace hood. For the post-ceremony festivities, she transformed the dress by removing the train and bodice to reveal a strapless gown. Later in the evening, she changed into a short, sparkling dress with white feathers and crystal-studded Jimmy Choo shoes.

The ceremony

The wedding, carefully planned by Ivy Robinson Events, was a perfect blend of classic elegance and modern details. A see-through marquee offered stunning views of the island coastline, while huge chandeliers and an abundance of white orchids and roses from Kelly Odom Flowers created a romantic atmosphere. The guests were greeted with champagne and accompanied by a trio of string musicians playing modern pieces. Andrew’s brother touched everyone with his rendition of the “Lord’s Prayer”.

The celebrations

After the emotional ceremony, the reception began with a relaxed cocktail hour by the pool, accompanied by the light sounds of a guitar. The formal dinner that followed in the festively decorated rooms offered a sumptuous selection of seafood, the Yacht Club‘s trademark. A jazz band provided the background music during the meal before the band led the guests into the festively decorated reception hall.

The wedding cake

The five-tiered white wedding cake from One Belle Bakery was served at night and was perfectly placed in front of the lush floral arch of the wedding ceremony. The romantic garden tent had now been converted with modern white velvet furniture with golden accents, a dance floor and stage for the band. The floral motifs of the invitations were reflected in the decoration of the central bar, which was a popular meeting place for guests.

Special gift idea

Anne Massie and Andrew used their wedding not only to celebrate their love, but also to give something back. Instead of traditional wedding gifts, they decided to raise funds for the Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, VA and raised over $2,500.

The celebrations ended with the couple leaving in an antique Rolls Royce, which provided the perfect ending to this unforgettable day.
